Comfort in a Bowl
My Changes

- 12 oz of smoked sausage quartered and sliced
- 1/2 lb. bacon sliced
- 1.5 cup carrots chopped
- 1.5 cup celery chopped
- 1 cup onion chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tsp. dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 6 cups chicken stock homemade, if available
- 1 cup of water
- 2 cups brown lentils
- 1/2 cup fresh parsley chopped
-
Using saute function, start browning bacon in the electric cooker. Once bacon is halfway cooked, add smoked sausage. Continue to cook until bacon is browned, stirring frequently, then cancel saute function. (There will be lots of brown bits stuck to the bottom, but that's okay).
-
Add carrots, onion, celery, garlic, thyme, black pepper, cayenne pepper, chicken stock, water and brown lentils to inner pot. Stir, scraping the brown bits up off of the bottom of the inner pot. Put on lid and turn venting know to Seal. Using Soup function, cook for 10 minutes with 15 minutes of natural pressure release (basically, let it sit for 15 minutes after cooking before releasing remaining pressure).
-
Once pressure has fully released, remove lid and stir in fresh parsley before serving.
Did you know that pressure cookers and air fryers can be used in the same recipe? Try Pressure Cooker and Air Fryer Chicken Wings, Pressure Cooker and Air Fryer Beer Brats, or Pressure Cooker and Air Fryer Potato Wedges
Want another soup idea? Try Italian Sausage Potato and Kale Soup (copycat recipe of Zuppa Toscana) or Soft Rice Soup
That looks absolutely splendid. I only have a straight pressure cooker, but I am going to try it anyway.
