Yogurt Customization #1 (Citrus, Strawberry, and Raspberry Flavors)

Trio of Homemade Yogurt, Parfait Style
Raspberry, Citrus, and Strawberry homemade yogurts, with granola and fresh fruit.

Customize Without Compromise

The best part of making your own yogurt (or buying in bulk), is that you can completely customize your yogurt. Everyone in my house has their own opinion about what flavor we should have or what toppings should be on top. The biggest request is not to compromise the homemade yogurt’s thick consistency.

Flavoring the Yogurt

Today, I would like to share with you some yogurt flavoring ideas, that also work well together parfait style. The brights notes of citrus work beautifully with the raspberry and strawberry flavors. By using freeze dried powder for the strawberry and raspberry flavors, they have no additional fluids but pack flavor. As with the freeze dried powders, the zest of orange and lemon pack a lot of flavor. By combining lemon and orange, you are getting two bright flavors that work great together. Either way, a little sweetness and vanilla bring it all together and you have thick and flavorful yogurt.

Topping It Off

Once you have your beautifully flavored yogurt, you or the other hungry mouths might want to add some extra flavors or textures. A great to accomplish this, as well as offering additional customization options, is with toppings. Some great toppings for these flavors are granola, fresh raspberries, fresh strawberries, or chopped nuts. You can get very creative and individualized with topping options. My family loves yogurt parfaits with fresh fruit and granola. Freeze dried fruit works well for toppings, too.

 Citrus Yogurt

Citrus Yogurt

The bright flavors of orange and lemon pair very well together in this amazing flavored yogurt, especially with tart or Greek style yogurts. The flavors in this recipes are very bold, as that's what my family prefers. If you prefer a milder citrus flavor, the recipes notes has additional directions for you.
